Integrating active localization into high-level robot control systems

چکیده
High-level control systems are designed to enable mobile robots to successfully perform complex missions such as ooce delivery and surveillance tasks. For that purpose they have to control, coordinate, and monitor diierent kinds of subtasks like navigation, manipulation, and perception. An important aspect of the eeec-tiveness of high-level control systems is the ability to cope with failures that occur during the execution of such subtasks. In this paper we focus on the particular subtask of estimating the position of the robot, and show how to achieve its robust integration into the high-level control system. The principle of this integration is to monitor the certainty of the position estimation and to autonomously relocalize the robot whenever the uncertainty grows too large. We present a localization approach which accurately and eeciently keeps track of the robot's position. Furthermore, it provides a measure for detecting localization failures and it is able to autonomously relocalize the robot in such situations. In addition to this, we introduce structured reactive plans, which can be interrupted by such active localization processes at any time and allow the robot to complete its mission afterwards. Our method has been implemented and shown to be robust in long-term experiments involving a typical ooce delivery scenario.

In this paper we present the robot programming and planning language Readylog, a Golog dialect which was developed to support the decision making of robots acting in dynamic real-time domains like robotic soccer. The formal framework of Readylog, which is based on the situation calculus, features imperative control structures like loops and procedures, allows for decision-theoretic planning, an...

Omni directional mobile robots have been popularly employed in several applications especially in soccer player robots considered in Robocup competitions. However, Omni directional navigation system, Omni-vision system and solenoid kicking mechanism in such mobile robots have not ever been combined. This situation brings the idea of a robot with no head direction into existence, a comprehensi...
متن کاملOptimal Control via Integrating the Dynamics of Magnetorheological Dampers and Structures
Magnetorheological (MR) dampers have the advantage of being tuned by low voltages. This has attracted many researchers to develop semi-active control of structures in theory and practice. Most of the control strategies first obtain the desired forces of dampers without taking their dynamics into consideration and then determine the input voltages according to those forces. As a result, these st...
